It’s that time of year again. After all of the celebrating and (let’s be frank) imbibing, we are all probably making strides to implement our New Years resolutions. And according to online polls the most popular have to do with one thing: getting healthier and/or losing weight. It makes it easier to know you’re not alone in your fight to work off the holiday’s much needed poor judgment and indulgences. All in all, the New Year should bring a renewed spirit of health and wellness and it’s not just diets that help. Meditation, self-reflection and taking better care of our over-all mind body connection should always be a priority in our lives.

More and more American’s are having to address issues with blood pressure and hypertension and this diet directly address these issues with the added benefit of helping people to lose weight. It’s a plant-focused diet, rich in fruits and vegetables, nuts, with low-fat and non-fat dairy, lean meats, fish, and poultry, mostly whole grains, and heart healthy fats. You fill up on delicious fruits and vegetables, paired up with protein-rich foods to quench your hunger. Sounds like a great way to both get in shape and make healthier food choices!
Weight Watchers: This is the number one choice for people who simply want to lose weight and get in shape and the reason could be simply that it isn’t so much a diet as a lifestyle-change program. It can help you learn how to eat healthier and get more physical activity, so you lose the weight for good. With the many celebrity endorsements, including the recent Oprah campaign, it’s hard to ignore its popularity.
